A three-dimensional shape or object that is thick or wide at one end and gradually tapers to a point. A wedge is often used to split wood, stop doors, or support the back edge of blank sheets of paper in the delivery section of a printing press. See Pile Wedge.

In graphics, a wedge is a term for a "slice" of a pie chart. See Pie Chart.
