Pile Wedge

A wood or plastic wedge used in the delivery pile of a sheetfed printing press (especially that used in offset lithography) at the beginning of a pressrun. Two or more wedges are placed on the bottom of the delivery pile to support the back edge of the sheets and counteract the effects of tail-end hook, a deleterious curl at the back end of a press sheet.
