In web offset lithography (or other type of web printing), an oven through which the printed web passes. The dryer—operating at a temperature of up to 600ºF, heats the web itself to a temperature of about 330ºF. Most blanket-to-blanket presses require floating dryers, as the web has ink on both sides. A dryer is needed when printing with heatset inks which dry and set only with the application of heat. Most dryers are either open-flame dryers or high-velocity hot-air dryers. There are also combination open-flame, medium-velocity hot-air dryers. After drying, the web needed to pass through the cooled chill rolls.
