A property of paper that indicates its ability to withstand a stretching force without breaking while saturated with water. The paper's maximum elongation due to tensile stress is expressed as a percentage of its original length. The wet-tensile breaking strength, combined with the (dry) tensile breaking strength, is used to determine a paper's wet strength. (See Wet Strength and Tensile Breaking Strength.)
