Term used to describe the ideal condition of an offset plate and blanket in which there is no slippage at the printing nip. Conventional rubber blankets have a tendency to deform when they are pressed against the hard metal plate. As a result, the surface speed of the blanket is different than that of the plate, which causes a degree of slippage. This slippage can cause printing defects such as slurring, as well as increased plate wear. The use of a compressible blanket can bring the blanket and plate closer to the condition of true rolling.
