Tight Edges

A paper defect characterized by warpage and distortion of its edges, caused by a loss of dimensional stability due to decreased moisture content after exposure of paper edges to lower relative humidity, or from exposure to cooler air. The distortion is greater in the paper's cross-grain direction, and causes misregister when printing multi-color work. See also Wavy Edges. (See Moisture Content and Dimensional Stability.)
