A defect of gravure printing characterized by a set of continuous streaks that print in non-image areas of the substrate, caused by nicks in the doctor blade, specifically an oscillating doctor blade. The nicked area fails to wipe the ink from the portion of the gravure cylinder passing beneath it. Railroad tracks usually comprise a thick line produced at the end of an oscillating blade's stroke, with thinner lines produced in between them.
