A paper quality that describes how a paper's surface will alter its surface shape to completely contact a printing surface. Conformability is an important determinant of print quality, in that a printing plate or gravure cylinder making incomplete contact with the paper will not completely transfer the printed image, which may result in breaks (or broken halftone dots) or, in gravure printing, skips, snow, and speckle. A wild formation or low compressibility can adversely affect a paper's ability to thoroughly contact an inked surface.
