A type of adhesive material produced from acrylic polymers. Acrylic materials (such as solutions of copolymers of alkyl acrylates as well as small amounts of acrylic acid, acrylonitrile, or acylamide) adhere readily to a variety of surfaces and are used in many types of pressure-sensitive adhesives. Environmental regulations have resulted in the development of emulsion polymers, waterborne acrylic resins that are used as adhesive materials in packaging because of their high tack and good age resistance characteristics. Acrylic resins are also used in hot-melt adhesives.
