Top-Wire Former

A type of papermaking machine, an alternative to the traditional fourdrinier machine that has as its forming section a horizontal forming wire through which the wet pulp drains, as well as another forming wire which contacts the web on its top side, allowing water drainage through both sides. Top-wire formers, in addition to twin-wire formers, aim to reduce or eliminate the two-sidedness of paper, or the production of a wire side and a felt side.
