The color characteristic of light possessing a wavelength between 610 and 780 nanometers, located at the very end of the visible spectrum, between infrared and orange. Red is one of the three primary colors of light. (See Additive Color Primaries.)

In multi-color printing, red is also a secondary color produced by the overprinting of yellow and magenta inks. Red is often—though somewhat incorrectly—used synonymously with magenta. (See Subtractive Color Primaries.)
