A family of organic compounds containing two or more hydroxyl groups (—OH) used as solvents in printing inks, characterized by their much lower volatility (ability to evaporate quickly at low temperatures) than monohydric alcohols. Examples of polyhydric alcohols are glycol and glycerol.
