Lithopone

An inorganic material used as a white pigment in printing inks. Lithopone is composed of barium sulfate (60:72%) and zinc sulfide (28:40%) (chemical formulae BaSO4 and ZnS, respectively). It is an opaque pigment used as an extender in many inks. It is chemically inert, but is susceptible to decomposition when in contact with acids. (See White Pigments.)
