A letterpress and flexographic printing defect characterized by the accumulation of excess ink at the edges of printed letters and dots, and/or by a colored region surrounding the ink "piles" caused by excess spreading of the ink vehicle. It may also be caused by excessive pressure between the plate and impression cylinders.
