The changing of a liquid into a gas, which occurs at a liquid's boiling point. In printing ink terminology, evaporation refers to a method of drying in which an ink vehicle containing a low-boiling-point solvent evaporates out of the ink film (either at room temperature or in the presence of heat), leaving the dried pigment on the substrate.
