A solvent in the ketone family (chemical formula CH3COCH3) used in the manufacture of printing inks for gravure and flexography packaging. Acetone is also used in screen printing both as an ink thinner and as a solvent used to remove lacquer and lacquer-adhered stencils from screen fabrics. Acetone is the fastest-drying solvent in the ketone family.
